Take a few minutes to answer the following questions and feel free to share your answers in the comments below.
1. When was the last time you did something creative?
2. What is creativity to you?
3. Where do you have your most creative ideas?
As “grown-ups” we’re sadly not required to be all that creative. Any sort of necessary creative output sort of stops at the end of our education. From then on there’s more focus on routine and efficiency – in the workplace, especially – doing more in less time but also doing it well. In fact, 80% of people in the UK and US said they feel pressured to be productive rather than creative. We have a certain amount of tasks to fit in and not much time for creativity. What if we could be productive and creative at the same time?
When things are done in the same way they’ve always been, nothing improves – there are no lightbulb moments. We’re not doing anything exciting, we’re not taking any risks and we’re not learning.
Let’s think about the answer to question 1. Take yourself back to being a child and think about how creative you were and how you used to see the world…
The Street Wisdom technology is based on seeing things from a fresh perspective, finding a more creative way of looking at a problem or a situation. Whether that’s as an individual, as a team or your entire organisation. Adopting a more creative perspective on problem-solving brings more innovative, exciting ideas for solutions. Taking part in a Street Wisdom session somewhat involves stepping into the unknown – trying something different, in order to learn something new from your surroundings. But you’ll find it could be the first step in making other bolder, more creative decisions.
You’ll learn a new way of looking at other challenging situations and finding new ideas. Rather than solutions that are always black and white, you’ll find a whole array of colours in between that could just be the new direction you need.
